Absentee Policy:
Attendance at all scheduled program dates and volunteer trainings is mandatory. Volunteers are allowed one excused absence per semester. Each unexcused absences results in a -1 point deduction from the final evaluation's attendance category. Excessive absences will result in deductions from additional categories, which will be turned in to your professor. Any volunteer who does not fulfill his/her entire commitment will receive a low evaluation and/or lose credit for completed hours. In cases of known absenteeism, volunteers are required to give their Program Coordinator at least 6 hours notice.

Inclement Weather Policy:
When school systems in the locality where you volunteer are closed due to weather, the programs will be closed. Please check local radio stations (Hot 100 100.7, PSK 107.3, or NPR. 89.1) or www.wdbj7.com for information regarding closings. It is your responsibility to obtain this information from one of these sources. Please do not direct inquiries to Beans and Rice staff or site leaders, as we cannot provide this information on an individual basis.
